A great facade with gothic traits and loads of architectural detail. The former monastery was dissolved by Henry VIII and the last Abbot became the first Bishop of the Diocese of Peterborough, which was carved out of Lincoln Diocese. The Interior. The windows are a delight. I came here...It's stunning both in and out. The staff very very friendly and helpful. Katharine of Aragon's resting place and of course the old tomb of Mary Queen of Scots are just a couple of it's residents... Definitely worth a visit and paying £3 to take your own photos. The cathedral suffered damage during the Civil War when Cromwell's Parliamentary troops destroyed the stained glass and choir stalls.
