FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. If Teck Frontier fits in Canada’s current climate change strategy, many are bound to wonder what fossil fuel development would not. The federal government has until the end of February to decide whether Teck Resources Ltd. can build the $20.6-billion Frontier mine in northern Alberta despite climate and wildlife concerns. It has major business units focused on copper, metallurgical coal, zinc, gold and energy. A lot of ink is currently being spilled over the federal government's upcoming decision to approve — or not — Teck Resources' Frontier oilsands mine project. CEO Don Lindsay of Teck Resources in Canada announced this week that his company was withdrawing from the environmental permit process for its $20-billion Frontier oil sands mine project.
