Definitely have Auto-Regen as an ability, and Auto-Haste and Auto-Life are recommended. Might as well go for two 7777 Lucky 7's which have about the same or better probability to occur as a single steal (6.25%), do more damage and risk the same amount of counters (2).

I had three characters KOed and one character in critical HP; then Ozma cast doomsday doing 0 to me and 9999 to himself!

I heard they are ridiculous with out it.Im thinking Lost Number from FFVII. I couldn't defeat this boss with a leveled partyHow can I have abilities maxed without taking in exp?Stopping/petrifying enemies gives you AP, but not EXPYou can get a lot of AP from the Friendly Monsters sidequest + Ability up.You have to get two spiders after Plant Brain and have all 4 characters absorb the EXP and they will all stay on level 1On other forced encounters that give EXP either use Stop with Vivi, Petrify with Quina's Needle Fork or absorb EXP with BeatrixTo learn abilities with Quina, get into an encounter with multiple enemies, eat one and use FleeIn Pandemonium's three forced battles you can't avoid getting EXP so you have to choose three characters which you won't use for the remainder of the challengeThe real challenge now would be to do it without friendly monsters, on disc 3 and without grinding Thievery and Dragon's Crest.Considering that in that case Doomsday would heal instead of damage Ozma, it might not even be possible since the AI would most likely decide to heal itself with Curaga and would just outheal the damage you could output.I think killing Ozma level 1 without friendly monsters and without grinding Thievery and Dragon's Crest would be possible on disc 4 since you could get some better gear, but still pretty hard since not everyone could reach it with their attacks. Due to the nature of the sidequest, the earliest point one can get there is on Disc 3 around the time the Hilde Garde 3 comes into the player's possession.

An unusual-looking monster, Ozma is a giant sphere patterned with bright, swirling colors, one hemisphere being made of light energy and the other hemisphere of dark energy. Ozma along with Dark Bahamut are the only two superbosses I've seriously attempted but couldn't beat.

Learn Level 5 death and do a bit of training - Auto Life/Regen/Haste -> you win. Every time.

I could be wrong though as I tried the steal strategy just a few times and haven't tested it thoroughly.Edit: didn't take the possibility of the ability Master Thief into account.

Until I went out and got big guard after reading gamefaqs.More than I've done. I was traumatized the first time i played against them and avoided them on all future playthroughs.I did clear the optional bosses in 7-9 though. Second went really really wellI've yet to beat Omega and Shinryu in FFV; their attacks are just way too powerful and their speed too high for me to handle. Final Fantasy IX achieved an average review score of 94% on Metacritic, the highest score a Final Fantasy game has received on the site.

I just beat Ozma earlier today, so I guess I can offer some advice.

Way too much grinding needed to have a chance unless you use Zanmato.FFX is coming up for me next and I am considering beating all of them this time but I may just use Zanmato for it.

While DB is just plain strong, I've since learnt that Ozma's power is in some extremely weird game mechanics, along with his generally unpredictable attacks. It wasn’t easy and I had to really play with some of the mechanics.

You can only fight Ozma in the 3rd or 4th disk, since you can't reach the Chocobo Air Garden sooner. It's from my level 1 playthrough, played on emulator with absolutely no cheats or save states involved.Nothing special I guess, as it has already been done, but I've used no Dragon's Crest or Thievery and didn't exploit/manipulate Ozma's AI (used a Dark Matter though). I was so happy, shipping around with my submarine. I almost quit playing because of it.I never forget the panic when I saw the weapon underwater for the first time.
